daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:16 KJV.

"Great" can be a warning as much as an incentive. Would you enjoy being near someone powerful who can be bought — to turn against you? Hopefully the "room" you get near him or her, is mostly merely opportunity to prove you and yours, in a more genuine way.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:15 KJV.

Getting seems more golden than seeking, and seeking seems more like it is (at least at first) left in the dark. Nonetheless, how can one get what he hasn't found, and what can he find that he hasn't sought?

Knowledge my go in ones gray matter. Too many people confuse knowledge for intelligence and confuse intelligence for truthfulness. Knowledge isn't always true; intelligence can help in getting truth from knowledge; but people can use intelligence to make a lie convincing, even to oneself. Priorities are truthfulness, then intelligence, and then knowledge. That's why i made "knowledge" gray in the graphic.

New Year

Our current calendar is of a Romish pope. It had been of a Roman caesar.

I think my new year's resolution is to check my Hebrew calendar weekly. I ain't so fond of having to use an Anti-Christ beast calendar.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:11-12 KJV.

Last time, Proverbs mentioned a strong tower that was safe. Here we have an entire city and wall (fortress-like wall), but only in someone's conceit.

In verse 11, i must have read "in" as "is" 4 times. I hope you avoid or escape my mistake.

The word "conceit" does update well to NKJ "esteem". But a small loss is the tone that a conceit is primarily a fanciful day-dream.

I drew a U.S.A. flag, because it's easy for anti-RINO Establishment Republicans to get cocky right now. Remember the LORD is our strong tower. Whenever Trump and his administration do good and great things, it shall be because God shall have guided their hearts.

My stars are missing, not so much as a message, but so the text shows up better over the blue. Nonetheless, if we steal God's glory in our own conceit — with either definition of conceit — God can remove all 50 states from this union, and should be justified in doing so.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:10 KJV.

When i read "the foolish does this" i'm inclined to think, "Oh, doing that is foolish." The righteous person runs into the name of the LORD. It must be righteous to do so.

(And by the way, the NKJ had a plural "righteous". One can tell by the verbs.)

daily wisdom – apologetics

I'll continue with Proverbs tomorrow.
In the meantime, check out this cool video!  It takes the Evolutionary, Old Earth presumption of things having always changed at the same speed, and turns it on its head.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:9 KJV.

( I promise this commentary of mine gets hearty, after what might feel like boring homework to some of you.)

The word "also" is missing from the NKJ (and others). I only noticed so, today.

This word has caused me to focus on this verse a good amount. This is because it's difficult to tell what word that word modifies, and which of two ways it modifies it. E.g.if it is there for the word "slothful", does that mean "also" is pointing to another slothful person? Or, does it mean the word "also" is pointing to another attribute besides slothful? If it's the first way, then the talebearer from the previous verse is both lazy and a gossiper. If it is the 2nd way (pointing to another attribute), then it is the slothful person in the current verse who is both lazy and a gossiper.

Another possibility is:
The word "also" be there for the phrase "in his work". If so, then the "he" of the current verse is slothful in work in addition to being slothful the same way as the previous verse's person. Not only that, but until we reached the word "also" and the phrase it modifies, we weren't yet informed that the previous verse's person was lazy at all!

If this is right, that God meant "also" to modify the phrase "in his work":
Isn't it enlightening, when so often when we give in to temptation, we think of it as being driven to do an action and giving in to that action. That is to say, why don't we think and pray, "Sorry, Lord, for being too lazy to think of the person i was hurting!" or "Sorry, Lord, for being too lazy to research the truth of the matter!" or both? How lazy is it to be drawn away and enticed?

Great pic

defaced idols

P. Geller reports on vandalized statues.  She is the one who organized the art show in Texas that baited two fundamental Muslims to death.  (And fundamentalism isn't bad unless your fundaments are bad.) Praise the Lord they fell for it, so that /their/ fellows got to hear and fear, rather than us hearing and fearing them.

But the recently reported, literally defaced statues could be the big clue why God has let us and Europe and Israel have Islamist problems at all.  Christians of past centuries have done the same to Christian and Romish statues.  Granted, the principal and spirit of something is the important issue, and therefore a statue isn't an idol unless someone worships it as a god or the God.  Still, carved images of organisms have proven to be too big of a temptation to keep around for multiple generations.  The brass serpent which the LORD God Himself ordered to be made, and was therefore good.  But, it was idolized by a later generation.  Therefore God had it destroyed.  Now it seems God uses Muslims to obey what happens to be right in their death-cult, to make up for our negligence to our true religion.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:8 KJV.

Whether good or bad, and regardless which is better, here's more proof that the old KJV and NKJ aren't the same translation of different eras.  In fact, they don't even translate the same Old Testament.

The NewK's footnote "h" in Pro.18:8, misleads the reader to think the old KJV's reading isn't actually even from a Bible, but from a "Jewish tradition".

Here is what is actually going on:  The old KJV's Hebrew Old Testament is the Masoretic Text.  Its name means, "the Handed Down Text".  The "Jewish tradition" mentioned in the footnote of the NewK isn't what we're used to calling a "Jewish tradition".  I.e.it isn't a ceremonious man-made law, used to disregard God's commandments.  Any action repeated every generation is a tradition — even if it is recorded in the Bible, and instituted by God Himself!  God started the tradition of having Jews record and copy the Old Testament, as we call it.

And interestingly enough, the _king_ of Israel is the primary person commanded to do so.
"And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of _his_ _kingdom_, that he shall write him a _copy_ of this law in a book out of that /which/ /is/ before the priests the Levites:" — Deuteronomy 17:18 _King_ James Version.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:6-8 KJV.

The way i see these verses as one fluid Proverb is this:
1: The progression of destructive power mentioned: contention "drama", then strokes or physical hits, then not only hurt but destruction, and then even a snare for the soul. ("Soul" can mean "whole life" at least according to the _New_ _Spirit_ _Filled_ _Life_ commentary.)
2: Verse 8 is like, "If you think that's bad, check out the gossiper! He (or she) shall hurt /you/ with his (or her) words, deep into your personal feelings."

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:3 KJV.

Miriam-Webster app's definition of ignominy:
noun

  • 2  : disgraceful or dishonorable conductquality, or action
OriginMiddle French or LatinMiddleFrench ignominie, from Latin ignominia, from ig- (as in ignorare to be ignorant of, ignore) + nomin-nomen namerepute — more at name.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:2 KJV.

What Hollywood calls the heart is actually the bowels or belly. The word "discover" is used at least a couple of ways in the Holy Bible KJV. 1 is how we use it. 2 is how it is used in Deuteronomy 22:30, which is a command against a very depraved sex-sin. In it, "discover" seems to mean "take off to discover something underneath".

Don't try to discover your heart. It's like color tinted glasses trying to figure out how colorful they are. And don't try to go digging beneath the core of your mind.

Delight in understanding.

I want to get this book.

I think of bibles the same way i think of gods.  Part of the devils' desire is for us to think that all gods are merely different pieces of knowledge about the same, true God.  Then the Secular Humanist atheists see all the false gods as false. And then Charles Sagan asks how we can believe in any true God?  And then there is us who believe that all the falseness of the false gods (and even false, supreme Gods like Allah) proves that /they/ are false, as we cling to our One True God, authoritatively, objectively revealed in a constitution-like document, holding all to accountability.

Likewise:

Part of the devils' desire is for us to think that all bibles are merely different pieces of knowledge about the same, true Bible.  Then the Secular Humanist atheists see all the false bibles as false.  And then either of the two James Whites (Ellen White's husband & that other guy)  ask how we can believe in any perfect Bible?  And then there is us who believe that all the falseness of the false bibles proves that /they/ are false, as we cling to our One True Bible, authoritatively, objectively compiled and translated in a constitution-like document, holding all to accountability.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 18:1 KJV.

Interesting in the old KJV, the man both seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom. Whereas in the NewK, the only thing mentioned that he seeks is his desire. Desire in the old KJV isn't what he's seeking, but how he is seeking it. The motive how in the word "through" has no equivalent in the NewK.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:27-28 KJV.

Another example that the NewK' isn't an old KJV in our English, regardless of whether that's good or bad. "Excellent" doesn't mean "calm". The old KJV's "and he that" makes the last line apply to anyone in general. The NewK has "when he" instead, making it only about fools. Psalms and Proverbs are where i have come across the most differences between the NKJ and the KJV.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:25-26 KJV.

Sure, having foolish children is bad, but don't go overboard in trying to beat the fool out of them.

And regardless of whether you think it's good or bad: The last word of verse 26 shows that the NewK' isn't only a KJV with today's English.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:24 KJV.

Besides "will" and "shall", Psalms & Proverbs are where the NewK sneaks in differences. There are verses that make understanding and wisdom seem almost the same. Here in the old KJV we see that wisdom isn't only in sight (NewK) but before him that has understanding.

how to be rewarded by God openly

The Handed down, Received, Preserved word of God has the word "openly" unlike the Critical Text.

Don't get caught up in fleshly guilt-milking sermons. Because, why would God incentivize you, and then slap your hand for "bad motivations" which He motivated you with?

Also, if you want to be productive at all, it requires success, and success glorifies. Glorify God privately, and receive His open reward. (And don't forget to glorify Him with hard work.)

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:23 KJV.

People find ways to bribe without technically bribing according to the laws of the land.

I disagree with the "Nuking" James that "taketh" ought to be taken as "receives". You might notice that the "NewK" also had to reinterpret "out of the bosom" for it to make sense with "receives". The imagery in the old KJV is a wicked man pulling out (taking) a gift from an upper, inner coat pocket (bosom) and it's for a judge (or someone with like power and responsibility).

daily wisdom, interruption

> This morning, i spent my time on this, instead of a picture. A friend of mine has been deceived that the law that sex is only for marriage, to be unBiblical. He referred to Jesus' mention of no marriage for resurrected saints, and then said, "Think about it..."

I admit you did actually think about it. But the Bible has given you more than that one teaching about the future, to think about.

If you /will/ yourself to do the Father's will (like in "0" John 7:17), then you're going to wonder how does God define "sexual immorality". The KJV says "fornication" rather than "sexual immorality". Still, if you search the scriptures for the answer, you'll find that sex is meant to be between a husband and his wife, only.

If you don't have an old KJV (or perhaps an obscure translation), then you shall need to go to the Old Testament in your search. But whatever; there is NO indication anywhere in the Bible that Old Testament sex-laws were changed in the New Testament /except/ for where they are made MORE strict and less lenient. The punishments may have been alleviated, sort of, but NOT what counts as breaking the rules. Try to find one, if you can, if anyone can.

You'll find that fornicators were forced to marry, unless the lady's dad utterly refused. But there was still the punishment of the man paying a dowry. But the woman is left single in a society where it's easy to find a virgin to marry.

Adulterers were executed, both the male and female. But there was one loophole if the adulteress wasn't married: the financial burden and nagging burden of polygamy. People don't realize that polygamy is its own punishment. But consider that God would rather have us committing polygamy than fornication.

Whip out your Old Testament.

Thanksgiving Day

Rahab was a harlot. A harlot is a whore. But she knew she needed mercy from God. Don't lean on your own righteousness. Let God count _His_ righteousness to each of you.

This Thanksgiving, remember Rahab if you have an unsaved family that thinks of you as a "hypocrite". The Christian whore Rahab saved her whole family from death. Don't have your own righteousness! Depend on God's mercy!

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:18 KJV.

"Void" is a strong word to describe understanding. Today we look into that void.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:17 KJV.

Hopefully the "for" in "born for adversity" is like how bandages are for wounds, rather than how swords are for wounds. But, it probably depends on the brother, the adversity, to whom he's a brother, and whatever else influences his decisions.

He can be both ways when tough love is needed. That is, a loving rebuke, correcting a person out of care, concern, and edification. It's when good feelings clash with actual goodness. At then, a brother can be for adversity both ways.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:15 KJV.

Wow! I'm not sure how i managed that look. I was trying for a blatant but non-obnoxious crud, since one of the words, "abomination", means disgusting. It appears like what you might see if you stuck your face in some algae-pond.

daily wisdom – Proverbs 17:11 KJV.

What can be so cruel about a messenger? Maybe what is cruel is what the messenger represents: distance, and therefore inability to change the problem.

"Angel" means messenger. In a sense, the greatest rebellion is the rebellion against faith in the Lord Yeshua's name. Because, it is such a small petition, how can one fail at it, without being very stubbornly rebellious? Smart and stupid people get saved through faith, and sometimes not. People from Christian and non-Christian families, get saved through faith, and sometimes not. God's hand isn't shortened that He cannot save. It takes great rebellion to refuse something so easy, and the cruelest messenger, is an angel casting a rebel into Perdition, the Lake of Fire.

daily wisdom – don't expect the Bible to always be in chronological order

The picture is of a harmony of Gospel Accounts, but then lo and behold! First Corinthians 11 shows up. What's a Letter of apostle Paul doing with Gospel Accounts?
